What color wall paint works best with cherry hardwood floors?

Hello, we just bought an apartment and it has Brazilian cherry wood floors throughout the entire place. I'd like some ideas for a nice paint color for the living and dinning room. My fiance and I are very into the soft lighting deep sultry colors and jazz....think something like a jazz lounge or zen spa. I keep thinking a merlot color but I feel it may be too much red....I've included some pics of our place, please help :)

Matte colors,muted would be best to go with the flooring....Like these colors;;;;light shade of gold, med. shade of mauve, or light peach....these tend to go well with other accent colors also..wood trim around doors %26amp; windows can be darker shades for conrast or highlights...like these combo's ;;;gold %26amp; maroon or burgandy, mauve %26amp; navy blue or dark forest green, or peach and gray or black,or chocolate brown...

the best thing for your fabulous cherrywood floors would be a neutral color on the wall. try a bage or a creme color.


if you have dark, rich colors like merlot, than the floor and the walls be trying to complete with eachother, and you don't want that.
I agree with Maya. Red walls will create to much red. I would paint he walls a taupe color and use pale yellow for accents, throw pillows, drapes etc and gold for wall sconces and picture frames.
