Is primer needed for freshly painted walls?

Moving into an apartment freshly painted with Latex. There is an eggshell finish, white paint everywhere I want to paint. They were painted about 3 weeks ago. Do I need to prime before I paint them? I will be painting with a color called Rustic Red on some walls - Its a very strong, darkish red. The secondary color is a tan color. Is primer needed for freshly painted walls?
You do not need primer, but you should purchase a tinted primer to use on the wall you want to paint the red on. You do not have to, but might save you painting an extra coat..it will take two coats to cover if good paint, more if it is cheap paint. Is primer needed for freshly painted walls?
Not technically, but it will make your color cover better, you won't need to do so many coats. If you havent already purchased your paint and just have swatches, there's now paint with primer in it making it a lot easier to cover and you get to skip step.
you do NOT need primer. just remember with red it will take three or four coats to make it look right
Yes, will better if you will use primer ... but my advice - mix primer with appropiate red pigment.
