Clean petroleum jelly from painted walls?

I need to clean some petroleum jelly (vaseline) from a painted wall. What is the best way to do this? Should I paint over it (not sure if paint will sit too well on the oild) or try to clean it off first?

No I don't think you should paint over it. I think the grease would come through.

Try vinegar and washing up liquid together. I am only guessing by the way. That is what I would do.

Dab it first with toilet paper or blotting paper to get the residue off.Clean petroleum jelly from painted walls?
Try using a little rubbing alcohol, or Goo Gone
rub bread on wall to absorb the grease then rub with baby wipes
