What is a good type of wall paint? Need to re decorate.?

I moved into a flat with obviously cheap wall paint. It marks very easily. Even if something so much as touches it, it leaves a black/gey smudge mark which is bad when I have a toddler around.

It also doesnt clean very well, if i try to wipe a mark off you can see where ive wiped the wall...

So how can I re paint my walls and not have to worry about these issues?

Also ive heard of ';spray paint'; where i can spray the walls without having to use a brush... what is this exactly and is it an good? What is a good type of wall paint? Need to re decorate.?
Don't spray paint your walls with cans of paint!

Being you say flat I assume you in the UK or down under so I'm not sure who's paints available there, but if you have the availability to get Valspar or Glidden Evermore those are my professional %26amp; personal favorites. Clean the walls down with a TSP solution and repaint them in the sheen known as eggshell. Eggshell cleans very well and is scrubable, provides an elegant finish and works very well with lighting.

Hi, you can spray them then put a varnish spray over it but thats usually only practical if there is no furniture around. I used an opulence paint called Craig and Rose from B+Q and you can scrub marks of that with no marks. The previous occupier has probably just used emulsion.x
Some paints and particularly designer paints have no vinyl content and mark just by looking at them.

Get a reasonable quality 'vinyl' matt emulsion and apply with a 9inch roller (2'; brush round the edges)
