I recently got dark purple velvet modern looking couches for my living room. I currently have beige and red paint but I'm painting the rest of the house and I'm thinking of doing this room too. I have an abstract looking painting hanging here, black, red and purple splashes sort of.
What color would look good? The rest of my house has a golden color scheme more or less... light tones.What color should I paint the walls if my couches are dark purple?
AQUA!!!!!!!
BRIGHT ORANGE!!!
No seriously, a beige/cream with gold flecks would be safer.What color should I paint the walls if my couches are dark purple?
Like a Gold, dark mustard Yellow, OR a green close to the one called Camouflage green on this site

Since your couches and art work are so colorful you'll want to go with a charcoal gray or silver gray which will compliment the purple very well and give you the modern look that you like. Bring home some paint chips or take a swatch of the fabric to the store with you if you have one.
a very light yellow would work with everything you have going on...BM's Cameo White maybe
Blue or blue with lines of splattered black like someone took a wet brush and waved it around
I'd go with ivory, and add some touches of black and purple -
pillows, lamps, vase/planter, ornaments, candles and holders.
A green plant, and some silver [ chrome ] or gold [brass ] items will 'finish' the room nicely.
';antique white';

I'd go with a deep yellow or an earthy color (beige-ish). The yellow would go with the modern look though and really make the couches stand out.
