Should pre-painted crown moulding be installed before or after the walls are painted? What about baseboards?

We are redecorating (new carpet, paint, crown and baseboards) and want to be sure it's done in the proper order. We'll be hiring professionals to do this but aren't sure where to begin. The popcorn is off the ceilings, thank goodness! :-)Should pre-painted crown moulding be installed before or after the walls are painted? What about baseboards?
Paint your walls, carpet the floors, then crown molding and baseboards.Should pre-painted crown moulding be installed before or after the walls are painted? What about baseboards?
Install moldings after you paint your walls.
paint first, then run your crown and your base but hold the base up off the floor 3/8 inch or more depending on the padding and type of carpet you'll be using. The carpet dudes will then be able to tuck underneath the base.
I suggest painting be for %26amp; be sure to check refs. on the installers
I have been a carpenter for 20 years and done a lot of Crown moldings on nice houses.

You should install the Crown moldings first.

Here's why

1. They are going to need to be painted again after installation. (puddy the nail holes and caulk the joints).

2. The walls will get marked up during installation.

3. You should caulk all along the bottom and tops of the moldings. Then the paint can go over the caulking and make a real nice looking job. Make sure you use a caulking that is paint able. There are some caulking that paint will not stick to. ';Phenoseal'; is good caulking.

The same goes for the baseboards. Install them, do your caulking all along the top where the base meets the wall. Puddy the nail holes and then paint the walls, and then all the trim should be painted last.
The moulding should be last process done for that tight sharp detail look.
Looks like u got ur answer already..paint first...Hey have you heard that now the ceilings are suppost to be darker than the walls..I found that out after i was finished painting!! Guess I'm way behind..Also we used a paint sprayer and was finsihed with the painting in no time but our walls are l=all the same color so didnt have to clean out paint sprayer in between walls!! happy painting!!!
after and after. it will protect your carpet and save you from having to trim (paint around the details like crown molding and baseboards by hand) paint the walls, lay the carpet, install the baseboards and crown molding.

it's prepainted so you don't have to do the messy tedious work, and it will protect both from the swipes and drips of stray paint.
