If i paint my walls a dark purple... what color should i paint the trim and ceiling?

O and I need an asscent color too.... but i dont know what would look good.... do u think turquiose would look okay... if not what are ur suggestions? If i paint my walls a dark purple... what color should i paint the trim and ceiling?
i would say use white on the trim and ceiling. it will keep you room looking bigger. your accent color should be a teal. that would look really pretty. use teal as a bed spread and things like thatIf i paint my walls a dark purple... what color should i paint the trim and ceiling?
Pale lavender
White. Lavender might look ok.

A thin accent line of turquoise across the wall might work. But I don't think I'd paint the trim or ceiling turquoise.
depenging on what design and colors the rest of the stuff youll put in the room is you should go with. i think white would look the best with dark purple but yeah turquise will look good also. also lavender
maybe a white or lighter purple but not blue
deep blue? a lighter shade of purple? gold?
I would stick with white or maybe a creamy off-white because it would look really fresh next to the dark purple. And then you won't have two colors competing.
Well, painting your ceiling a dark purple also, will make the space look bigger. For the accent color, I would go with a lighter purple or a pink color....turquoise might look okay...a blue would work too. Add in a couple of mirrors to make the space appear even larger.
Lavender, lilac, or light pink. It will look feminine and pretty!
Go to sherwinwilliams.com and use their color paint room thingamajig. just click and drag your colors to the wall. ceiling and trim and see what you like, I think a loud crappy pea green trim looks cool, try it and play around and have fun. be sure to save you colors and look at it in a day or two to see if it is really what you want.
Use a ligher purple/lavender or bright pink
light purple... pale yellow, aqua... tan, white, black.. that's all I can think of.. but all of those would look nice.
white is traditional for both ceiling and trim but a light purple or lavender would do well with the dark purple. As for the accent color turquoise would really pretty!
maybe black if you like black or alternatively varnish your trim and paint your ceiling white! i dnt kno! try getting some little colour cards from the paint shop and see which one suits! hope i helped!
Well. I don't know but a nice looking tint of pink maybe? Just give it some more color? But it all matters on what you want.
Turquoise would look nice, but try to go for a lighter turquoise. For the ceiling and trim try to use an ivory or beige color. You can even make the ceiling like an ivory color and the trim light turquoise the same as the accent wall. If you put too many dark colors the room will look cave-like and small so try to contrast between the dark and lighter shades.
Definitely go with either white trim or slightly off white and as for an accent u could use a lighter shade of purple. I don't think the turquiose would go.

I have to paint a wavy line 5ft thick on a wall any suggestions on how to be consistent on the wavy line?

Mark two lines equidistant down your wall, with their distance apart equal to the depth of your waves. Get a 5+ foot length of board or molding that will not excessively bow, and mark the center of your board. Drill two holes and insert pencils in each end, 5 feet apart. Standing in the center and holding the board with both hands outstretched as far as you comfortably can, ';draw'; the board down, making your wavy lines, making sure the center of your board uniformly passes over (but not past) your wall line as you make the waves. They will be consistent in width and form.

Easy, and the quickest, and the most accurate way of doing it.I have to paint a wavy line 5ft thick on a wall any suggestions on how to be consistent on the wavy line?
Use a level ,72 '; one, or a shorter one and a yard stick. Then measure the same distance between lines.I have to paint a wavy line 5ft thick on a wall any suggestions on how to be consistent on the wavy line?
Mount a skateboard truck at the center of a five foot long piece of 1X4 close to one edge with the axel parallel to the length of the stick. On each end and on the opposite edge mount some sort of markers. Perhaps you could get lumber crayons (keels) from a local building supply. With the truck at the leading edge and the stick held verticaly, draw the markers gently along guiding them either by the lower OR the upper edge of the proposed wave being careful to maintain the stick in a verticle position and watching the markers for wear and contact with the surface..
Cut a 5' piece of wood and attach a piece of chalk on each end. Paint will cover the chalk with no adhesion problems.
You need a straight line 1st. Then cut out a large circle from a large cardboard refrigerator box. By centering the circle on the line you will get a consistent wavy line. Mark the center of the circle on the edges so you can get it right every time. Another way to do it is with a projector if you have access to one.

Have fun with your project!
With a pencil draw a single line in the patten you want, roughly the center of what will be your wavy line. Use a yard stick to measure 2 1/2 feet from each side of the line every few inches, marking with a small dash. Do this on the upper and lower side. After you complete the stencil, free hand the wave with your pencil, following your dashes. You will have your wavy line :D I hope this helps!

Painting a Room - Ceilings? Trim? Walls? What order?

Okay, I've got the room completely primed and ready for real paint, but I'm not sure what the easiest and most importantly best results will be as far as the order of which to paint first; the ceilings will be white, the trim white and the walls yellow; do I start with the trim, then the ceilings then the walls? or ceilings walls trim??? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Painting a Room - Ceilings? Trim? Walls? What order?
Do the ceilings first. The reason for this is because they're up there where they won't get messed up by the other paint. If some of the ceiling paint splatters on the side wall, it's no big deal because you're going to paint over later. If you do the side walls first, splatters from the ceiling will mess up your work.

Next do the side walls. The trim is always done last. It takes a little extra care. Use a good cutting-in brush. Cutting-in means carefully painting one thing that meats another of a different color, or texture.Painting a Room - Ceilings? Trim? Walls? What order?
Ceilings first because if you dont then the paint from the ceiling may get onto the newly painted walls.

So

1)Ceilings

2)Walls

3)Trim

When you do your trim just buy somepainters tape to put around them so that the paint wont get on any other surfaces.

Happy painting!
Oh..Oh...I know this one. Just had to repaint my whole house and I find that top to bottom is the way to go. I paint ceiling first, cause trust me it's the hardest. You have to have good shoulder strength to push that roller over your head. Then do the walls. Save the trim for last, that way if you have any mistakes or drips from ceilings or walls you just paint right over them. Good Luck. Oh, yea...buy some kind of pain reliever before you tackle that ceiling...ouch.
i painted my house (well my parents' house), and what i did was do the walls first....so paint the walls yellow, then do the white ceiling and the white trim. i found that to be easiest.
ceiling, walls, trim
paint your ceiling first any accidents on the walls can easily be covered up . paint your walls next then go back for the trim. i used tape to tape off around the trip so i didnt get any on the walls or my ceiling.

dont just use any masking tape either they make a special blue tape for it any hardware store carries it even walmart has it .it should be in the painting section of the store
cieling first, that way any drips or runs will be covered by the wall paint, which comes next. paint the trim last.

How can I paint bedroom walls to fade from blue to green vertically?

I'm looking for a natural gradation, not rag rolled or textured. How can I paint bedroom walls to fade from blue to green vertically?
Hey There!

I was just browsing around on Yahoo Answers and came across this question of yours.

Rent or buy a spraygun (such as Wagner).

Start with the lighter color and apply a little further than the final distance.

Take the next color and spray lightly at the desired height. By ';feathering'; the colors they will slowly graduate into each other. Sort of like air brushing.

Start your second color with very light spray and then heavier as you go towards the next color. Remember, lighter colors first and then move to darker colors.

Since you're doing some decorating, I wanted to mention that I鈥檓 an IKEA Regional Manager and was informed of a private website at my last regional managers meeting that ended up to be a promotion we鈥檙e doing.

It will be difficult if not impossible to do it. It would be easier to make the gradual color change spotty with a sponge.
Well, first you should have several blue shades, several green shades and several blue-green shades of paint, all in the range you want.

Start with blue at the top, with your darkest shade. Then paint in your next darkest shade of blue, blending the two together until they look naturally cascading. Once you use all of your blues, continue with your blue-green shades, continuing to blend the colours. Then do the green paints, ending with your darkest shade of green.

You might have to do some work while blending as it can take awhile for it to look natural. Use a small to medium sized paintbrush for blending and a large paintbrush for just painting on the different shades of colour.

This is a really good decoration idea. It will probably look amazing when it's finished! Good luck!

What color should I paint the walls to accent black & white photos?

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I definitely suggest a color so that the b%26amp;w really stand out. Something like ';tawny tan'; is fairly neutral, but it has just enough color to make the b%26amp;w POP.What color should I paint the walls to accent black %26amp; white photos?

  • What color should one paint the walls of a yellow and green tiled bathroom?

I am remodelling a 1955 house with green and yellow ceramic tile in the bathroom. The sink, tub and toilet are also green like the tile. the tile goes up the wall about 4.5 feet. Above the tile, it is plastered all the way to the ceiling, and it is a HIGH ceiling. I want to paint the plaster- is white the only color that would look okay? Or if off-white, what color of off-white would be okay? What color should one paint the walls of a yellow and green tiled bathroom?
A warm tan would look great. Check out a color called ';fresco cream'; by sherwin williams:

White about a very pale pink. Cream
    I'd go with a pale grey/sage
You could use white or you could use a soft, buttery shade of yellow or a pale celery or sage green. Keep the colors soft to avoid making it too garish.

Alaskan Mist or Cool Yellow from the attachment may work.

    Off white or cream.
Off white sounds good, but you didn't really give a good description of what theme it has. If it looks a little romantic or Itain than You might want to go with darker colors. But if it's a sunflower theme than bright colors. Go to the Home Depot and compare there color samples and look at interior decorated example rooms in there color sceam books. A little brick red doesn't sound bad or maybe the walls could have a rag off effect. A big vase and tan rag off walls with a brick red trimed dorway and an elegant brick red accented curtain. A giant vase and a couple of palms would look great. Sorry if that's a little more than asked for and an african looking mirror. Ragging off is realy easy and definitly will give the room color.
A yellow hued creamy off-white. That would keep the integrity of the time period and keep it warm and interesting.
a purpley-red color. Like a deep magenta-plum color. Seems scarey at first but it compliments the tile colors and it's a great color for skin.
Try a cream - [ white with yellow in it ] or an ivory [ white with beige in it ].

Or, you could do a paler shade of the yellow [ banana, pear ]or green [ honeydew or celery ].
White is a safe choice. Off-white might be OK, but you really need to be much more specific. You might want to hire an artist or color consultant.
The safe answers here w/o seeing the tone of the colors would be a white (or any cream color) or a different tone (lighter or darker) of either yellow or green. The white would contrast more with the tile work and will brighten the room. It's hard to decipher what would be the highlight of the room w/o know the light content. Using a yellow or green would create a monotone effect, it would be calmer, less contrast between the colors of the room. The tile would pop the color of the tile the is of the opposing color of the wall. You can always try to match the colors using paints swatches and inquire at your local paint shop or hardware store for advice. Good luck.

What color should I paint the walls if my couches are dark purple?

I recently got dark purple velvet modern looking couches for my living room. I currently have beige and red paint but I'm painting the rest of the house and I'm thinking of doing this room too. I have an abstract looking painting hanging here, black, red and purple splashes sort of.

What color would look good? The rest of my house has a golden color scheme more or less... light tones. What color should I paint the walls if my couches are dark purple?
    AQUA!!!!!!!

    BRIGHT ORANGE!!!

Like a Gold, dark mustard Yellow, OR a green close to the one called Camouflage green on this site

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green
Since your couches and art work are so colorful you'll want to go with a charcoal gray or silver gray which will compliment the purple very well and give you the modern look that you like. Bring home some paint chips or take a swatch of the fabric to the store with you if you have one.
a very light yellow would work with everything you have going on...BM's Cameo White maybe
Blue or blue with lines of splattered black like someone took a wet brush and waved it around
I'd go with ivory, and add some touches of black and purple -

pillows, lamps, vase/planter, ornaments, candles and holders.

A green plant, and some silver [ chrome ] or gold [brass ] items will 'finish' the room nicely.
    ';antique white';

    http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_鈥?/a>
I'd go with a deep yellow or an earthy color (beige-ish). The yellow would go with the modern look though and really make the couches stand out.

As you look into your room, from your bed, i'd suggest a warm blue or green-to soothe your senses ,and allow you to sleep. There is nothing more startling, than to wake up from a dream and not know where you are. Hot whites and hot reds will startle you, repeatedly. Warm whites, blues and greens will allow you much comfort,in this scenario.

I would paint my walls a lighter shade of the coral, and I'd get beige/white/cream carpet so it would match with that and so I could always change the bedspread without having a creepy carpet color.
I would suggest that your walls be a gentle/peaceful color. Aqua or seagreen would be perfect to go with your coral bedspread, and as for your carpet i suggest a light beige color or even white.

What colour should I paint my walls with a purple carpet.?

I moved into an apartment with like a dark purplish/grey carpet. I like taupe/neutral colours but I think this might clash. Any suggestions? What colour should I paint my walls with a purple carpet.?
Purple is a BOLD statement....but very interesting. Ask this question again and be more specific about the 'shade' of purple. Is it a reddish purple or dark grape purple? Is it a lavender shade or more blueish color?

That will help others to give you some suggestions.

However... just dark purple.... I would suggest a silvery wall or something on the gray side of the color wheel. Then you could use silver accents that would really make the room pop.

I would use yellow in the room as well as accents with accessories.... not too much ....but just enough to add some life and color to the room. What colour should I paint my walls with a purple carpet.?

If you are bold...I would use the purple to my advantage and go all out BOLD! Wall color orange or bright yellow. If your wanting to tame down the carpet I would go witha lights grey, almost white but make sure to use accents in your wall color choice. It will tie the whole room together
You don't want to bring in anymore purple. Since there is a grayish tint in the carpet, I would paint the walls a light gray.
Go to this site and consider a shade like

    ';Grassland'; , ';Rushing River'; or ';Netsuke';

    http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/
It depends on how bold you are, I say go with a lime green! But most would not agree, so maybe a real soft blue/gray it may be called antique blue.
Beige is neutral, and brown and purple complement each other well. A lighter color will provide a nice contrast.
id go with a light...more pale beige

I would choose a tangerine shade.
either a deep red/maroon, or a light cream... depending on your personality
Beige, Then any rugs or other accessories will be fine.
off white or cream maybe a yellowish color
Sherwin Williams has an awesome color called hemp and then you can do the trim (baseboards %26amp; crown molding) in satchel. Burgundy would be pretty as an accent wall but you will enjoy having lighter walls if you have dark furniture. Good luck!
    Nice-or sage or tans too

Check HGTV.com for a great referance library of ideas
With dark furniture lighter walls look better. You don't want the room to be too dark. The butterscotch sounds nice or maybe a cafe au lait shade of beige. Nice and warm
personally, I like warm and cozy, so would go with a forest green
    Any Earth Color
    butterscotch sounds nice.

    a golden-yellowish. even a beige.

    or a dusty green-grey.

    anything really would match!

what you can do is go on yahoo image search and look up 'brown living room furniture' and you will get pictures of brown living room sets and you can look at the color of the walls to get an idea of what you think looks good.
any of the muted jewel tones or earth tones would work - just depends on how adventerous you are
any type of off-white that is cream colored with a hint of beige in it.
Butterscotch or a light butter color would look beautiful. It would really set off your furniture. You could use a deep burgundy for curtains or else perhaps chocolate colored curtains -- either would fit in and really make the room ';designer'; looking.
Brown is considered a neutral color so you can use any color you like. Any of the colors you suggested are fine however, if you choose a darker color like the burgundy you might want to do it on one accent wall and tie it into the other walls through your rug and accessories and accents.

TSP is the best thing I have found to clean painted walls. If it is cheap paint, you may have to touch up some spots. But, anything that will clean a wall will take off cheap paint. You can buy TSP at Lowe's or Home Depot or any store like that. TSP is very inexpensive.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser will amaze you. Seriously, you have to try it, even if your paint is flat rather than satin or eggshell.I need help getting rid of pen marks on a painted walls. Please help...?
A quick paint may be easier.Latex paint which is water based will not take much scrubbing.

Harsh cleaners will ruin the paint. I have heard vinegar mixed with some water works...but, don't know what it will do for the paint.!!!

Start in a small area hidden to see if it damages paint.I need help getting rid of pen marks on a painted walls. Please help...?
rubbing alcohol works everytime and will not harm the paint, it is because the pen marks are alcohol based and that it breaks down the component of the ink. Also is the way to remove magic markers.
You will have to repaint. Ink does not come off of painted walls. It may even show through the new paint if you don't prime it first. Kilz primer works best. Use the water based kind. That is K-I-L-Z primer. Check your hardware store.
Mr. Clean magic eraser. My mom used this and she said it works wonders. Takes all kinds of marks out of the walls that normal cleaning wouldn't. I believe she used it on permanent marker on the walls. I would try that.

It won't have to be the exact color, I'm sure your landlord won't remember the exact shade of horrible that it is now. (PICS)What can I do to make my room look more lively when my walls are painted this ugly dark color?
I would string a set of white lights around the entire room where the walls meet the ceiling.

Then I would make fabric flowers or shapes (using different color fabric cut out flowers, shapes) and using the wall puddy (not nails) I would hang the things around the room.

Also, put up a couple of mirrors for the glow effect of the lights.
This is a really dated color but you could make it work with some accents of light gray and black. Maybe some sheer gray panels on the windows and black throw pillows with a gray patteren in them, black candle holders and a picture with the wall color and a black frame. Will take some shopping around to find, but it could be done.
Use khaki or tan bedding, drapes, whatever and your favorite color as an accent (pillows, blankets, decor). I would stay away from the red family so your accent color is different from the walls. Throw in some nice lamps and maybe a plant or two.
    Looks like maroon to me.

Put up lots of bright pictures, get nice bright white curtains.

And pray some day you'll be allowed to paint over it!

Tape ripped off paint on wall?

Alright, so I was just trying to put up a big poster in my basement and it doesn't have those poster sticky things that are easy to take off the wall, it had strong pieces of tape or something that already came with the poster. So yea when I was taking it down, the tape things took off big chunks of paint off the wall and now it's like a dark brown/gray color I think. Do I need to use Spackle or do I just paint over it with the same color paint?Tape ripped off paint on wall?
Thin coat of fine spackle, so it will be even with the texture, then prime , then paint. That is if you want to do a job so you dont see the defects. Next time use staples to hang a poster, leaves alot less damage. A good job takes time to do it right, so dont be lazy like the rest of the postings.Tape ripped off paint on wall?

Can I paint the walls of my rented apartment?

    Hi,

I am renting my apartment. The paint on the walls is quite old and I would like to change it. Is it allowed to paint the wall without asking the lodger? I would like to go for a bright color, like red.Can I paint the walls of my rented apartment?
You would definatly have to ask them, and would probably have to pay for it if they said yes.

If they say yes but only to neutral colours then try what I did. Show them samples of your intended colour scheme and offer to repaint it when you move out (back to neutral, and at your own expense).

If they don't go for it then there are ways of brightening up the wall without decorating. You can create a feature wall using interesting, black and white photos - no order to them, just scatterd over one wall. Use all different sizes, with mix and match colour/style frames.

Or you can amke your own wall hangings with bright or bold patterned material - again, mixing and matching works well. Can I paint the walls of my rented apartment?
you mean you are renting out your appartment? If you own it you can do whatever you like, however, you have to ask your lodger if you can enter the property and you might find that you lower the renting value if you paint it bright colours as people will be less likely to like it
Ok im confused you own the apartment or are you the lodger

If it is yours you are not allowed to paint it without the lodgers agreement in fact you are not even allowed on the property unless you have his agreement first

If you are the tennant you can paint without permission but the landlord can take the cost of redecorating when you move out from your bond as it could be classed as damage
You would have to ask the owner. He may allow you to paint certain colors, however red may not be one of them.

Or he may say you can paint it red if you agree to either paint over it when you move out or pay to have someone do it.

It always pays to ask first.
are you renting YOUR apartment or AN apartment
Yeah, if you own the apartment and are renting it out, you have teh right to do what you want with the property as it is yours. I hope in the contract you drew up for the rental that it states this though.
if u own the apartment no probs u can do what u like but if not u shud ask the permission of the landlord/lady and say what colour u wud like and they mite let u all u gotta do is ask
yeah that fine! on Rule 34F page 3 of the Homerental agreement you can even knock down the dividing walls as well! (37g page 8)
YOU NEED TO GET PERMISSION,OR WHEN YOU LEAVE HE WILL CHARGE YOU WHATEVER IT COSTS TO REPAINT.
    lol...no way!

I'm renting too n I'd love to decorate! The only thing you could do is ask the landlord, but if he/she says yes you'll only be able to decorate in creams or whites, neutral colours!

I'd love my bedroom to be red but it has to be cream!

    Sucks don't it! lol

Oh sorry-just read it properly! If it's your property that you're renting out, you can do what you like to it!Obviously you'll have to ask the tenant to make sure they aren't in or to get their stuff out of the way......but you own the home so you can do what you like!

Sorry mate I read it wrong at first! lol :D
I wuuld suggest checking with your landlord first. If you paint without permission you could face some serious expense when you move out. The landlord has the right to charge you a fee to have a professional come in and repaint the apartment its original color, sometimes this can cost in the hundreds of dollars and it usually comes out of your security deposit. You may end up losing your deposit and paying more money on top of that, so just ask. If your landlord says no, lots of companies are making decals with cool designs that stick to walls but come off as easy as they go on. Check out Urban Outfitters, they have some.
you obviously have an agenda, noone paints walls if tennents dont ask

you cant walk into their house without them being present and at a pre defined time, its their home, you only own it
You'll have to ask your landlord. If you offer to buy the paint yourself he/she might be more likely to say yes. If you do it without asking and the landlord doesn't like it he/she might keep your security deposit because of it.
Yes, provided that the Landlord gives you permission first. In fact if the paint is peeling away, by rights they have to ensure the upkeep of the property and therefore paint it, although they would actually choose the colour. But you might, if such is the case, state that the painted walls need renovating and providing you can choose the colour, you would contribute to the cost and do the painting. Of course you should be diplomatic about it.
Why do you want such an outlandish colour if you are not living there. Far better for good relations and a happy lodger to say that you want to decorate the flat and ask him to choose a colour scheme within a preset budget and decorating parameters. This means that he cannot ask for each wall to be a different colour or ask for striped painting etc.
IMAO - RED is not a really good color to paint your wall.

Colors have been proven to provoke an emotional response in people. Red can provoke anger and hostility.

According to experts at The Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute in Philadelphia

鈥?Red increases blood pressure, heartbeat and energy in most people and instills feelings of intimacy and passion.

鈥?Orange, like red, tends to warm a room, but in a more friendly and welcoming way.

鈥?Yellow is also warm and welcoming, but has an inherent sunny feel.

鈥?Blue and green evoke feelings of calm and tranquility because they are reminiscent of the colors of the sea.

    //////////////////////////////////////鈥?br>

If you are renting an apartment, I think it would be best to paint it a neutral white. Dark colors tend to make a place look/feel smaller. If you paint it yourself, the landlord may ask you to return it to what it was at your own expense. The landlord may be willing to cover the expense if you consult with him/her beforehand.

Jenna is painting the walls of a game room which is 22ft by 18 ft by 9 ft.a gallon of paint covers 350 sqft2?

i neeeed help!!!Jenna is painting the walls of a game room which is 22ft by 18 ft by 9 ft.a gallon of paint covers 350 sqft2?
(18x2+22x2)9/350=2.057Jenna is painting the walls of a game room which is 22ft by 18 ft by 9 ft.a gallon of paint covers 350 sqft2?
I take it 2 walls are 22ft long, 2 walls are 18ft long and the ceiling is 9ft up the wall. Then 2 x 22ft long x 9ft high = 396sq ft and 2 x 18ft long x 9ft high = 324sq ft. Add both together and you get an area to be painted of 720sq ft. 2 gallons will cover 700sq ft so unfortunately you will need 3 tins of paint. Hopefully you can buy 2 tins gallon size and a 3rd tin of much smaller size that will cover at least 20sq ft.

I don't know where the other guy got 11 gallons from, at a guess he must have mistakenly calculated volume rather than just area as required. All the best
The area of the walls is 2*(22+18)*9=720 sq ft so she needs 720/350 = 2.06 gallon.
she will need 11 gallons of paint

  • If i paint the walls to my room 2 walls baby blue, 2 walls chocolate brown, can i put in dark wood flooring?

everyone says that would be too much dark brown and i was just looking for second opinions. thanks! If i paint the walls to my room 2 walls baby blue, 2 walls chocolate brown, can i put in dark wood flooring?
I think the dark floor with the chocolate walls would create a warm, cozy feel in a bedroom, especially combined with the blue walls. There is no doubt that the dark floor with the darker walls will give your room a dark feel. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. With warm lighting, plenty of light accents (white and light blue fabrics and accessories, for example) you can create an intimate, inviting space that promotes relaxation.

If you were to put light (white or light blue) bedding on your bed, the light colour would make your bed a focus against the darker walls and floor. This would serve to make your bed look extra inviting, adding to the coziness of the room.If i paint the walls to my room 2 walls baby blue, 2 walls chocolate brown, can i put in dark wood flooring?
How much light is there in your space? If you have an ample amount of light, go for it! If you aren't stuck with a certain shade of brown, look into lighter shades.

You can do 2 walls in brown and 2 in blue, just consider which walls. If you have only one wall with windows, I would put tht wall in the blue, and the 2 next in brown. It will look as if the brown is wrapping around your space. For an extra effect, paint the ceiling in the same shade of blue. To lighten the space, make the blue be a very light shade, and slipcover or buy new furniture (not sure of your budget) in light, airy colours.

Your space will be dramatic and interesting! If you keep only the brown dark, and everything else light, you can definitely have 2 walls in brown.
Actually,, it will be dark but that can work -- especially in a bedroom. The floor and ceiling are like the other components of the cube you'll be working with to create a whole. I think you will have the most success with this color scheme if you make one of the colors predominant and the other secondary, so they are not covering an equal amount of surface area. I like the wainscot idea someone already shared, painting the wall chocolate just part way up the wall (ideally trimming out with chair rail from a home box store like Home Depot, etc.) -- just be sure it's either 1/3 or 2/3 of the way -- or some other unequal measurement of your choosing to give one of the colors the most surface area, and soft blue on the rest (then you could do the blue on the ceiling as well, and if you are without moulding, you could farily inexpensively use quarter round moulding at the top of your wall where it meets the ceiling and paint that chocolate brown to frame it out and balance the color.

If you want moody, as this scheme suggests, I'd recommend going with dark wood flooring and using a lot of lamps....floor, table, accent/novelty (such as a star lamp that can either be wired to hang, or more economically, placed on a dresser...I believe they are called morovian stars and I think shadesoflight.com carries them), possibly even add rope lighting above an armoire to add ambient pools of light as well as task lighting. Place those lights at points in the room at least on a diamond or triangle, even if you fill in more. Ideally you could have those lights switched together by an electrician so you wouldn't have to run around the room turning lights on. Just keep your overhead separate. At night, you can still turn off the lamp on your nightstand separately. I had an interior design instructor who had a dark brown bedroom and loved it!
Everybody loves chocolate, it seems. So no big surprise that some people are choosing to paint their walls a deep rich brown that invokes the inside of a truffle. Mmmm delicious. Brown is dark. There’s no way around that. There are 3 color choices for the hardwood floors and kitchen and bathroom cabinets: white/cream cabinets with light colored hardwood flooring; medium brown cabinets with same color hardwood flooring; and chocolate brown cabinets with same color flooring.
I think it would look very pretty! To keep the room from looking too dark, I would suggest making your ceiling, trimwork and doors white and use white curtains on existing windows. I also suggest using bedding that is white or mostly white and use a throwrug that is white. The white accessories will more than balance out the room. I have a bathroom that I recently painted chocolate brown and by following the tips I just gave you it does not seem to be a dark room in the least. Have fun!
I think I would feel like I was living in a dungeon. The floor and dark walls would blend into one another and the room would lack definition. I love darker shades of wood flooring, but when combined with dark walls, all I have seen look oppressive.
It sounds like it would be pretty dark, but a rug could brighten it up. Personally, I'd go with a lighter flooring. http://www.spudart.org/blog/images/2006/…
At my aunty's old house she had a room very similar to what you want to do with yours, except she had three walls blue and just one wall brown, and I know that looked very nice.
It would definitely darken the room. The dark floor would seem to recede.

If you have lots of windows or natural light, it could work, or if you add lighting.

    Sounds dramatic.
i have dark wood floors and i used white for the upper and a dark maroon bottom halve looks great. dark color like chocolate with the floors in my opinion would be too dark. be a gloomy room.
why not paint all walls with baby blue? then just put the choco brown the bottom of all the walls like 4 inches in height.
I think it would be too dark. Go with a lighter floor. You can always change up the look with rugs. The dark floor might be hard to decorate with in the years ahead, too.
I think that would look amazing but make sure the furniture looks good in it

I strongly recommend you find expert advice. A good way to do so without spending a fortune is to have a look at a book like ';Seven Layers of Design'; by Christopher Lowell. haha what you been up to babe?

If the smears are coming through the red paint, you have to i.d. what it is first, or it is likely to come back. Talk to some one at a paint store or paint department as see if they can help you. You may just need a stain blocker paint in that area and then redo the red in that area.Painted living wall six months ago in postbox red,now theres white smears,if i paint over it will it come bac?
try this, paint over with watered down PVA,it will seal the wall giving a barrier between old paint and the new paint you are going to put on,read instructions on can to get best results, good luck.
Yes if it is water based, paint over with oil based paint, then emulsion over that.

Does painting base boards 'trim and doors same colour as walls make room look larger?

No. Don't paint them all the same color, as that will look very boring. What you want to do is just minimize the contrast, which means keeping your walls, trim, and doors all either light colors or dark colors. Most people opt for all light colors, but if you have beautiful wood trim and doors, you may want to consider a darker color (still keep in the same range of color, though - honey oak/pine is much lighter than some finishes on mahogony or cherry, so you'd actually want more of a mid-tone for the honey finishes).

Cool colors, such as blues and greens, make the walls recede and therefore typically make the room look larger than warmer colors, such as reds and yellows.Does painting base boards 'trim and doors same colour as walls make room look larger?
why would you want to do that.your going to ruin your room.what makes a room look larger is a lighter color.i have never heard of painting the baseboared trim and doors will make a room look larger.just go for a nice nutral color something like an antique white it is a creamy color actually it is a beautiful color that will make your room look larger.Does painting base boards 'trim and doors same colour as walls make room look larger?
If your baseboards and woodwork are not painted now....don't do it! Leave the natural wood and do whatever you want with the walls. If they are painted a little contrast is more interesting.

lite greenJust bought a chocolate leather sofa and have a green carpet, what colour shall I paint walls.?
Your couch combines the colors red and yellow; the carpet combines yellow and blue, so you definately need a yellow tone on the walls. I would suggest one in a light creamy tone - more creamy than yellow.
Seems youre going for a more earthy tone, so perhaps another shade of brown or a reddish brown color. Earthy tones include shades of green, brown, and mixtures between red and brown. Black is also sometimes included, but I doubt you want black walls.
keep it neutral the carpet will probably need changing
    something in the beige/tan family.
a nice beige/tan color will go nicely and complement those two colors. happy painting!
Tan. I think would be the best color to paint the walls you can even through in a side wall of color to match your couch a deep coco or somthing would look really cool agianst the tan on the walls. I wouldnt just do ';Tan'; make it a neat color of Tan they have a wide varity to choose from!

    Take care!
The color of sweet cream...a very pale buttery golden yellow.
    red
go with a slightly different green from the carpet - if the carpet is a dark green, then go for a lighter green or even a white with a hint of green on the walls and vice verse.

    Painting on walls of apartment..?

My roommate and I just moved in and have set aside a wall for painting. When I say painting I mean like pictures; our own and allowing our friends to doodle on it also. Eventually, when we move out we will have to cover it.

My question is.. What kind of paint would be easy to cover up.. Acrylic? Spray paint? any other suggestions would be great too.Painting on walls of apartment..?
As an owner of rental property my advise is to ask your landlord first. The landlords opinion is the only one that matters.

Wallpaper can be difficult to remove and once gone can still leave residue. There are amazing cover paints out there but Killz is one of the best. It still may not cover everything without a lot of hard work and time.

My best advise is to compare how much you would like to doodle on your wall with how much you want your deposit back.Painting on walls of apartment..?

I'm painting my room and choose blue, green, white, pink and brown....what color should i paint my walls?

    1) If you paint the room brown but leave a focal wall green or blue, I also think it could be great.

    2) Also, a more bold look would be wide stripes of alternating blue and brown or alternating brown and pink. That is incredibly hip and young

    3) I also think if you like a more versatile, go shabby chic and paint it white but add soft pale shades of blue, green and/or pink in accessories.

    3) White can also be a retreat atmosphere with a focal wall of green.I'm painting my room and choose blue, green, white, pink and brown....what color should i paint my walls?
if me i'd choose brown because it's my favourite colour, but blue is hippie and green is peaceful. If you'd rather have a light colour i'd suggest blue :)

I have beige walls surrounding my living room. what other color can i paint the main wall where the t.v goes?

so i have beige walls in my living room with white trim. i want to switch the color on the main wall where i have my t.v. what color can i paint this wall that would compliment the beige walls without standing out too much? thanksI have beige walls surrounding my living room. what other color can i paint the main wall where the t.v goes?
Deep red, burgundy, rust or sage compliments beige because of their brown undertones, blend with all contrast colors and ties in with earth tones without

being overpowering.I have beige walls surrounding my living room. what other color can i paint the main wall where the t.v goes?
    Mocha or gray.

The biggest hurdle will be finding a color that complements your particular shade of beige.

I recommend getting three sample jars of paints you like ( they cost about $4 apiece ). Paint each color on a piece of poster board and tape them up using painter's tape. This gives you a chace to see a large area of the color and it gives you the opportunity to see how the color will look in different light, etc. You can take them down, too, and match them with carpeting, drapes, etc.

I know this sounds like an extra step and you're thinking it's not worth it. It beats speding money on paint, putting forth the time and effort to do the painting and then finding that it isn't the color you thought. Trust me, the wrong paint has put me in tears before.
Since you added the information that you do not want the wall to stand out too much, go 2 shades darker than the current beige and you should be satisfied. You could be a bit more daring though. We just finished a new house, and the walls are a taupe/beige, (white trim). After much consideration, we painted the accent wall, (with a fireplace), a very deep maroon, and it's gorgeous! Added a few maroon accents in the room, and the WOW factor is amazing. Positive comments from everyone who sees it, and at least one couple copied the idea within a week after they saw it. Remember, paint is the easiest mistake to fix. Just paint it again.
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

    http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

I think ';bluebell'; (# 6793) might be a great choice.

You can take a photo of your house %26amp; upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

    http://www.roomvues.com/

You can get color suggestions %26amp; for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
are you going for warm or earthy tones/shades? I would advise a mint-ish green. a green color out of the green spectrum. not like a regular green or lime green, but a more earthy tone green. it looks really good. my close friend just got a new house and they're whole hose is based on earthy tones, a mint green in their room, and in the living room is a green tone above the chair-rail white chair-rail and then the beige/light brown color under neath it looks AMAZING.
Beige is a neutral color and you can paint the main wall any color you want there is no color that wont be complimentary. But if you do not want the wall to stand out too much (having one overly bright wall in a room actually makes it look bigger bty) I would go two but no more than three shades darker in the same beige family.
a sort of toned-down red might look nice-(VERY toned down). Also, if it is an almost-white beige and you are looking for a cloud-like look, a sky blue might be nice. Whatever you do, DON'T do brown. It will drown out all color and make your room look Grey. Try brighter colors that pop that the beige accents will accent perfectly, and make your room look awesome!
what other colour do you have in the living room , for instance curtains ,sofa, pillows?

Let me know and I will help you .
It depends on how much contrast you want. Make sure the colors are in the same tone, but try sage, cranberry, mocha.
    Avacado Green and or Chocolate

Yes, Vladimirescu is a suburb of the city of Arad. But the name of this suburb comes from the name of the famous painter called Vladimirescu ... so i think that the notes reffers to the painter not the suburb.

If those paintings are the original ones, painted by Vladimirescu himself, they are worth a fortune.Hand painted wall plaques-ROMANIA-?
';C.A.P.'; most likely means collective farm, which were created by the communists in villages throughout Romania in the late 1940's and dismantled in 1990.

';Vladimirescu'; is today a suburb of Arad city in the west of Romania, but used to be a village, hence it had a CAP.

';jud. Arad'; means Arad county, obviously the county in which Arad city is located.

';pret lei'; means price (and with the ';IKO'; i think it means price per kilogramme)

    ';CTC'; means quality control.

...so those plaques were either owned at some point (between 1950-1990) or actually made at the collective farm in Vladimirescu, Arad county, Romania.

The name ';Vladimirescu'; was given to that locality in 1945 in honor of Tudor Vladimirescu , a 19th century Romanian revolutionary (and not at all an artist ); before it was known as Glogovat or Glogowatz.

As for the value of the plaques, it seems that there any many medieval remains around that village so maybe that's where the CAP got them from and sold the plaques further after stamping them.

  • I used paint testers on a wall but now want the original colour is there a way to fade or make it disappear?

Nope, it's paint. You'll have to paint over it, and I'd recommend you prime first.

I want to redo my bathroom, and it has painted walls.?

I want to add ceramic (12'; by 12'; ) tiles but am unsure if I can just place them over the existing walls.

Any help with this...?I want to redo my bathroom, and it has painted walls.?
if the walls are sound you should be able to go right over the paint.here is a good site to check out

http://www.thetiledepot.biz/guide_wall_t鈥?/a>I want to redo my bathroom, and it has painted walls.?
Yes, you can tile over painted walls. You need to make sure it is solid and will bond well. If the paint is pealing or there is mold, etc, you need to remedy that first. But if the location is drywall and flat, then sure. Now if the location is going to receive excess moisture, then the drywall needs needs to replaced with green board or backerboard. And in a shower, I don't think that applies here, you need a moisture membrane like Kerdi-Mat. Generally, I use mortar for everything, but if dry, and I can't stress the word DRY enough, you can use a tile mastic. But if in doubt, use mortar. Just noticed, you have 12'; tile. Stick with mortar for the whole project.

You may want to contact tile wholesaler, if special conditions, but I've set literally 100's of thousand sq.ft of tile and hundreds of bathrooms. Tile over drywall is fine, if dry.
Rough up the surface with 80 grit sandpaper, wash with TSP or equivilent and let dry thoroughly. I would use smaller tiles in the four to six inch range and use double duty tile adhesive. If you have any doubts, try a couple test tiles. Let them dry and pull them off to check adhesion. Hope this helps.
Nope you can't just tile over painted surfaces. Go to one of the home improvement store, home depot, Lowe's etc. Ask the people in the tile department what you need to do.

Here is the jest of what needs to be done, you must put down backer board of some sort and screw it to the drywall and into the hidden studs

The tite gets laid on the backer board. Also called cement board
Best thing to do is to go to Lowe's, they can help you better there, but I believe you can put tiles over pained walls.

Would wall texture and safe paint be safe for a boa?

i saw a cool cage get built and wanted to know what he used and if it would be ok

Paints and materials are classified as toxic and non-toxic. This means that if they are ingested they wont kill you but might make you sick. Humans and Boas are the same in this regards, so if you can paint your kids room with it, there is a far bet you can paint your Boas room. Just becareful of fumes (air it really well) as they harm their sensitive smell/taste receptors and potentially put them off food. Have fun.

I have a projector and want to use my wall as the screen, is there a special paint I can use for this?

Yes. It's called Screen Goo (really). See http://www.goosystems.com/I have a projector and want to use my wall as the screen, is there a special paint I can use for this?
If you are going for a budget screen then plain flat matte paint is an option. Don't use glossy paint or you'll get a nasty screen glare in your eye. I'm making my new theater now with screen-goo but my first screen was a huge sheet of painter's canvas with white matte behr paint from home depot (My fathers an artist)

Painting issue with Sharpie on walls?

Ok so an onery kid drew on walls with Sharpie black marker. The thin type. I am trying to paint over it with a flat white paint, but after a few coats you still see marker under it. It looks like crap, HELP! I am thinking it needed a primer of some sort? This is coming from someone who had to ask the Walmart worker how you open the paint cans....I know nothing about painting. Painting issue with Sharpie on walls?
    Professional painter (12 years)

Go to home depot, and go to the paint section, and purchase a spray can called ''Killz''. Just make sure you buy the oil primer product. That will cover that right up, and stop the bleeding through the paint. Have funPainting issue with Sharpie on walls?
lol i have a two year old that likes to do that Mr. Clean magic eraser!!!!!! It works like a charm! now that you painted over it i don't know get some paint thinner it will come off then!
Try a product called Kilz. It will block out just about any stain. Then paint over it with your flat paint.
contact your local paint store - they will be able to give you the name of some products, primers, that will work for you. And hide those Sharpies!

How do I get wall paper off of drywall. The drywall was never painted first. Paper put straight on drywall.?

Hire a wallpaper steamer, most hire companies will have them. How do I get wall paper off of drywall. The drywall was never painted first. Paper put straight on drywall.?
A cheap alternative to wallpaper remover is filling a spray bottle with water %26amp; Downy or some other liquid fabric softener. Water %26amp; vinegar work also. Just score your wallpaper, or peel of as much of the top layer as you can and spray it on. Within a minute or two you should be able to scrape it off.

If the walls weren't 'sized' or 'primed' prior to hanging the paper, it may NOT come off all the way. This has happened to me several times when trying to remove paper. If you are planning on texturing the walls after removing the paper, you can leave some of the stubborn peices on. After you texture, these peices ususally just get hidden. If they do decide to puff up and come off this is when you will see them, when the mud is wet. Then you can remove them. I have even had a whole wall I just textured over the paper and painted and you would never have known it. Good luck! How do I get wall paper off of drywall. The drywall was never painted first. Paper put straight on drywall.?
if the drywall was not painted or primed, you're not going to get the wallpaper off without destroying the drywall. the wallpaper is now part of the drywall. if you can get the vinyl surface off it will help. then prime over the backing. if it looks ok then you can paint it. but if not you will have to skim the wall with joint compound after priming. it's a real mess when people hang paper on drywall without a primer. good luck, you're gonna need it.
as a past house painter in the eighties, we used to soak the walls with hot water and dishwashing detergent, using foam pads on broom handles, called squeagy mops, here in australia, once the paper was soaked through all you needed was a wide paint scraper, it was messy but it didnt matter if the carpet got wet as we used to rip the carpet up and restore the floor boards to there original condition.
if you have a steamer great

if not use a water bottle filled with hot water

spray and use a wall paper remover tool gently

    Larry is right.

1/4'; drywall is quicker than skimming
you will need to steam it off. most hardware stores have wall paper steamers for just that purpose

  • Possible to paint over my painted walls?

i have yellow painted walls in my bedroom and i want to get rid of the colour and i want my bedroom to have a new change.

I was wondering is it possible to paint over the painted walls? If so how many coats would i roughly need for the yellow to be unseen?Possible to paint over my painted walls?
I think that you should be able to paint over the existing color. The thing to do is to apply your new color generously. This should eliminate a second coat.Possible to paint over my painted walls?
Yes, you can! For best results, use a primer coat first. Depending on what your new color is will help determine how many coats you'll need. Using a primer first is always a good idea. However, I have successfully painted over light colored walls with a darker shade without using a primer and applying only 1 coat. But if you are going lighter, you will probably need a primer coat. Try primer and/or paint by Kilz, as their paints are known for one coat coverage. This brand is a little more expensive but worth it, in my opinion. Have fun!
depends what colour you were wanting to paint it and how dark the existing yellow is. a couple of coats of white undercoat should do the trick. and undercoat is cheap. then just paint over in your colour of choice.
hi if it is quite a bright yellow i would buy white emulsion and give it two coats of that first as it might affect the top colour you choose! and its cheaper than putting four coats fo coloured emulsion!

then you should only need two coats of your chosen colour!

added....if its a really pale yellow you might get away with two coats of your blue but make sure you use a good quality paint, i always use a paintbrush for better coverage!

    good luck! :)

What color to paint bathroom walls w/ country french white and blue tile?

What color paint do you recommend for the walls in a small, windowless bathroom? Right now the walls are painted two shades of dark blue in a striped faux finish. The floor is white tiled with a navy blue border along the outside. The vanity and commode are white with country french navy blue toile design handles. Any color blue just looks too dark. Is yellow my only option? What color to paint bathroom walls w/ country french white and blue tile?
Yellow is a good choice, another popular color that might go well is a light celedon green. Or go with the ever popular white and make your accessories very colorful. This is a very versatile option as you could change your color scheme often just by changing the color of your towels, rugs, curtains, decorations, soaps, whatever. What color to paint bathroom walls w/ country french white and blue tile?
It must feel small in there with the dark colors. I'd go with a simple bright white. It will feel bigger and be brighter and you can decorate it with a few simple things on the wall.
look to nature and flowers, see what goes with the color blue you have in there
You could do a light lavender.
    Beige
I would suggest Seafoam. If you're not sure what it looks like, just Google-%26gt;Image-%26gt; Seafoam color
No way, orange would be good, so would a red, but it sounds like your tile is really dated. You might want to do a tear down.
    What about a soft peach?
i think silver ( CHROME) WOULD BE NICE
You can always go with white--that will brighten things up considerably. I think also, that a soft peach would look nice. Or a light blue.

I think anything that you pick that isn't in a dark tone will look just fine. Get those little color rectangles and bring them into the bathroom and try to imagine what color would work and that you could live with.

Again, there's nothing wrong with white. It's a nice blank canvas that you can hang pictures on, or do a decorative border with.
i would go with a basic white.w/lots of toile accents...toile is very hot right now and you can definitely create a french country chic atmosphere with that

I have butter yellow painted walls and sage furniture. What color curtains would look best?

If you are going for a feminine look, try a cream and sage green toile(pronounced twall) or paisley print. If you are going for a masculine look, try a plaid with both colors and maybe a brown or dark red also for accent.I have butter yellow painted walls and sage furniture. Garlic WhiteI have butter yellow painted walls and sage furniture. What color curtains would look best?
So far you have plenty of earth tones. Try a red or soft lavender.
White and yellow checks (large pattern - not small) with large yellow hem with sage green trim. :)

    Good luck! Sounds pretty! :)
the color of your carpet..i have pink walls and green carpet with little pink flowers in my room and green curtains
I'd personally look at some shades of lighter greens or lighter browns. You could go all out and get a darker brown and have some major contrast...but the good thing about that is you can get all kinds of different decor. Like paintings, statues, whatever you use for decor.

I'm coming up with some pretty cool pictures in my head of what that would look like.

Good luck with what you choose and hope you like it!!
Light tan background and highlights of darker tan and sage.
use either green or yellow check and if you have a table and chairs in the room get the same fabric to make pads for the chairs.
Dusty/denim-like blue to balance with the dusty green works well with soft yellow tones. You're bringing in 3 adjoining colors from the color wheel so they work very well.
make dark brown you accent color and get offwhite with brown straps curtains from peir one imports
White ones would work nice. It will keep the room looking bright, fresh and crisp. If all white is too boring sew on the bottom a piece of sage colored fabric. THis way it will ancour the curtains to the room. Hope this idea helps! Good luck!
Try lilac, then you wont have to buy any more drugs, just looking around and you'll think you're high.
I found this ebay guide on Window Treatments very interesting.

What's the best colour to paint the walls/ceiling in an exercise room?

Green is very nourishing to your health. It calms your nerves and balances your whole body by bringing healing vibrations from Nature. When working with Green color, it is important to have at least several different shades in order to maximize its energy effects. I'd use Sherwin Williams' colors ';greenbelt,'; ';green trance,'; and ';grandview'; all over the room. Another great way to bring color Green in is with actual plants that have lush green foliage.

Yellow would also be a great choice for your home gym. Yellow color wakes up the room like the rising sun. The color of sunlight, cheerful and uplifting Yellow always lightens and brightens any space, as well as creates a cozy, welcoming feeling. Color researchers believe Yellow increases self-esteem and strengthen the overall well-being. I'd make sure to use a brighter tone, like ';yellow beam'; %26amp; ';lively yellow'; rather than something more muted like ';mossy gold.';What's the best colour to paint the walls/ceiling in an exercise room?
I think bright yellow. This will pep you up.What's the best colour to paint the walls/ceiling in an exercise room?
Yellows and reds tend to be stimulating. However, if you are also planning on doing some relaxation like Yoga in that room, that may be too vibrant. I would try green to bring the outdoors in and provide a peaceful atmosphere.
i say something that is relaxing for you
white or do you already have it white?
Use light colours, because dark colours would make people depressed, and tired!

Something like light light cream for walls and white for ceiling :)
I would say something bright so it gives a positive energy flow and doesn't make you feel relaxed or tired.
um idk but DONT DO RED, red is proven to make you hungry thats y dining rooms kitchens r red, good luck hope i helped:)

Is it safe to cut open glow sticks and paint my walls with the inside of the glowsticks?

I had a great idea that i would decorate my walls with the insides of glow sticks.

But is it safe?Is it safe to cut open glow sticks and paint my walls with the inside of the glowsticks?
No it is not safe nor would it work. There is glow in the dark paint for walls-use thatIs it safe to cut open glow sticks and paint my walls with the inside of the glowsticks?
I wouldn't recommend it. What you might consider is getting some invisible fluorescent paint. It looks normal under regular lighting, but if you use a blacklight then you see the fluorescence. It's safe to use on your walls because that's what its designed for.

If your parents aren't keen on your painting the walls, you can always get some canvas and paint your designs on that. In that case you can get visible fluorescent paint to see it during the day too.

You can usually find paint like that where you would buy blacklights, or halloween stores for example.
well, the stuff inside is supposed to be non-toxic not to mention there's glass inside it, it will glow for a little and that's all unless you use a black light but as it dries it can stain walls badly
no, the chemicals in the glow stick will make you sick!!
of course it's safe... but it will stop glowing after a couple of days!

  • Looking for information on John Brentwood the artis who painted the picture on my wall?

did you try on a search site?

My carpet is tan/brown. what color should i paint the walls so that my room isnt too dark?

the bedroom isnt huge so i dont want to go too dark and make the room look smaller. im just confused because we are renting and cant rip up the carpet but would still like a sleek sophisticated bedroom. My carpet is tan/brown. what color should i paint the walls so that my room isnt too dark?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

    http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

I think the color ';festoon aqua'; (# 0019) would look very modern with that carpeting. My carpet is tan/brown. what color should i paint the walls so that my room isnt too dark?
Really, you can go any color. Think of brown as the ground (like in nature) and you can go with a light blue- very soothing, a green- which is ';in'; right now, any color, really. Choose based on what colors you like. I would suggest painting a few light samples or sticking samples on the wall to see what you think of them while you're in bed. You could even paint a swatch of canvas so you don't ruin the wall and that way, it is large enough to see and decide.
I would recommend a light aqua color, such as ';Opera Glass'; from Sherwin Williams. Brown and aqua coordinate very well together and will compliment each other. Get some aqua colored candles, pictures that have aqua and brown tones in, decorative vases etc. and your room will be a relaxing oasis. It is important to choose a soothing, calm color in the bedroom, since this is where you want to feel comfort and relaxation.
A cool light shade of aqua or teal would look great.
    burgandy
    Maybe a mushroom colour?
    blue or cream

I had a great idea that i would decorate my walls with the insides of glow sticks.

But is it safe?Is it safe to cut open glow sticks and paint my walls with the inside of the glow sticks?
Wash your hands when you're done, and don't drink any obviously. It's safe. But it will reek hardcore, and stop glowing in like an hour.Is it safe to cut open glow sticks and paint my walls with the inside of the glow sticks?
Unfortunately the glow would be short lived. Once the chemical reaction is over, it's over. It does not last more than a few minutes or hours at most. As to safety:

    ';Glow sticks contain hydrogen peroxide, and phenol is produced as a by-product. Therefore, it is advisable to keep the mixture away from skin, and to prevent accidental ingestion, if the glow stick case splits or breaks. If spilled on skin, the chemicals could cause slight skin irritation, swelling or, in extreme circumstances, cause vomiting and nausea. However, many ravers will cut or break open a glow stick and apply the glowing solution directly to bare skin in order to make their bodies glow. It has been said that glow stick chemicals cause cancer;[9] the phenol produced is toxic, corrosive and a category 3 mutagen. Also it is wise to avoid all contact with thin membranes such as the eye or nasal area. Despite reports to the contrary, it is not safe to smoke or ingest glowing phenol, and it will not produce any drug-like effects. The fluid contained in glow sticks can also dissolve some types of plastic.';
I've put the stuff on my skin with non-toxcic glow sticks and its fine.

If you paint it on walls,it will glow for like an hour then it will never glow again.
Well i dont know if its safe but i do that with my glowsticks

But the glow will disapear in like 15 minutes
you can do it, but it wont last very long.
    its not safe and why?

the walls will stop glowing in like 25 minutes

it might not even glow at all

    see it's a chance we've gotta take,

'cause I believe that we can make this the intro to somehing that will last forever

Or from here comes the sun by the Beatles:

    here comes the sun,

    i say it's all right
    God is in my fingers

    God is in my head

    God is in the trigger

    God is in the lead

God is freedom, God is truth

God is power and God is proof

God is fashion, God is fame

God gives meaning, God gives pain

Choose different colors to see what appeals to you.

Deep red/burgundy and gold are perfect together and with burgundy's brown undertones it coordinates with your furniture.

Very cool combination is golds with eggplant color. Not light purple, but deeper, rich eggplant. Could look very sophisticated. Another nice color is chocolate brown. Add a stenciled accent in your golds to that wall and now you're really making a statement!

depending on how much light is coming into the room i think a rich coffee or cream would look great as it would blend in with the gold but also the black and brown furniture, if you go too dark it will close up the room.
you should go to behr.com. you can upload a picture of your room and then try out different colors on the walls. thats what i have been doing and its really helpful!
For harmony I would go with exactly two shades darker than the rest of the walls. However I don't know what other colors are going on in the room-ie curtains, pillows, rugs.
maybe a beige or egg shell color

trust me, they look very rich and elegant on the walls :)

I have orange leather texture walls, red sofa and red floral chair, should I paint walls different color?

It depends on whether YOU like it!

Traditionally, orange and red do not go together, and it's a strong combination for a whole room. If you look at traditional Indian decor, there is a lot of use of strong colors, and it looks great.

You could tone down the orange to a yellow, but it also takes a lot of paint to cover a strong color.I have orange leather texture walls, red sofa and red floral chair, should I paint walls different color?
I think I would use black accessories and some earth tones to cool down the colors. As a matter effect, I have chosen orange walls for my guest bedroom. The Bedspread I selected is red and gold with black and tan in it. I think you will have a nice spot to be in as long as you tone done the color of your accessories.I have orange leather texture walls, red sofa and red floral chair, should I paint walls different color?
to paint over textures intensely colored walls will take a lot of paint. you could maybe drape some semi sheer fabric over parts of the walls, in maybe a soft lighter orange or pale yellow or off white to soften the look, then incorporate that color in some accent pieces, pillows, get an area rug to tie it all together..or, for the walls, you could do a wash of a lighter color, letting some of the orange show through. check your local home depot, or sherwin williams store for the technique. you can also find the technique on line. www.artsparx.com/a_colorwash.asp

that will still leave the leather texture, but soften the color..

    good luck

Hang a small picture over it or move a piece of furniture to hide it until you can get the right materials.

College students had a good trick in the days to fix holes with white toothpaste, but I think your hole is a bit too big!

OK , heres what you do.

Get a piece of cardboard. Cut it into a square bigger than the hole by 1 inch all around. Cut a circle the size of the hole into one side, but not all the way through the bottom layer. Make it as close to the size of the hole as possible.

Peel off the top layer outside of the circle you cut, then carefully remove the corrugations on the outside as well.

If you have glue, spread glue on the part where you just peeled off the layers. If you don't use some paint as the glue. glue it in place over the hole. Paint it after it dries for a few minutes. re coat as needed.

I have a feeling your A$$ was going to be in big trouble before I came along !!! Good luck.........
If you have plaster you can fill it up then cover it with the paint so it doesn't look as bad.
